All is now set for Anambra State Beach Soccer Association to take a trip to Kebi State on Saturday with the State Beach Soccer Warriors for the first leg of a national league in that area of sports.
Secretary to the association, Dr Emma Nsoedo disclosed this in Nnewi, yesterday, at The Moon Shine Hotel where he introduced the contingent to the members of the press in a press conference.
He said the Anambra team had had intensive training to give hope of victory for the Kebi State engagement as the team and their officials depart Anambra on Saturday 6.
Dr Nsoedo disclosed that the Chairman of the association, Prof Victor Madubuko had shown a lot of interest in ensuring a formidable beach succer team that could make Anambra State and the nation proud.
Dr Nsoedo said the beach succer association had worked relentlessly to discover talents who would be qualified for national and international competitions.
“We want to use sports to reduce deviant behaviors and other activities inimical to society. Of course, we ladies among the people we bring up. We’re fully prepared for any national or international championship.
” Anambra State Beach Soccer Warriors are leaving for national competition in Kebi after quality training that started since last year in Nnewi. Our beach succer pitch at Nnewi High School is of international standard.
“Anambra State will host the second leg of the tournament and that will attract a lot of economic benefits and prestige to the state. Anambra won the interest of the national body which made them to award the State the hosting right, “he said.
Dr Nsoedo is confident that business investors in Nnewi and beyond could help to finance beach soccer in Anambra to achieve the desired height.
Some of the officials of the beach soccer including the captain, Mr Chinweze Gabriel were introduced to members of the press.
