Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command has advised NYSC members to be security conscious and take proactive measures to ensure their safety and security during their service year.
State Commandant, Maku Olatunde gave the advice on Friday, during his visit to deliver a security lecture to 2024 Batch ‘B’ Steam II NYSC members undergoing 3-weeks Orientation Course at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/ Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The NSCDC State Commandant assured both the Corps members and NYSC management team of robust security arrangements for a smooth orientation course.
He encouraged them to prioritize their own security, adding that individuals were ultimately most capable of ensuring their own safety.
“Refrain from making unauthorized movements and traveling late at night. Besides, cultivate a sense of security vigilance among yourselves during your service year,” he added.
Commandant Maku emphasized the importance of seeking help in case of any security threat, and encouraged the corps members to reach out to or report incidents to the nearest security agency without hesitation.
Earlier, Mrs Blessing Iruma, the State Coordinator of NYSC, warmly welcomed the visit of the Service Commander, describing it as a timely and much-needed morale boost for both the corps members and the entire camp community.
