Former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chukwudi Orizu, has defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alongside a large number of supporters in Nnewi North.

The defection, held at his residence, saw ADC ward and local government officials formally receive him into the party. The party’s mobilization and revalidation chairman in Anambra, Barr. Ben Chuks Nwosu, described Orizu as a “big catch” whose entry would strengthen the party’s presence in the area.

Explaining his decision, Orizu said his move was driven by the need for political alignment and growth, stressing his desire to openly support Peter Obi without accusations of anti-party activities.
“I believe change is constant. Joining ADC gives me the platform to contribute meaningfully and support Obi without conflict,” he said, adding that he has no immediate plans to contest any elective position.
Welcoming him, Nnewi North ADC Chairman, Prince Chijioke Ofodile, assured the defectors of full inclusion and equal rights within the party.
Orizu later received his membership card in the presence of party stakeholders, including ADC governorship candidate in 2025, Chief John Nwosu and other local leaders.
