2027: Consider 2nd Niger Bridge, Enugu-Onitsha road, Owerri-Aba road, others as Biafra Igbo need, not Biafra of sentiment-Umahi

Works Minister, Engr David Umahi and President Tinubu

…Vows that S/East’ll vote massively for Tinubu

Minister of Works, David Umahi, has declared that the South East will vote massively for President Bola Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, in the 2027 general elections, insisting that the region’s future lies in strategy, unity and constructive national engagement.

Umahi made the declaration at his country home in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, while receiving political leaders, religious bodies and community groups who paid him a Christmas homage.

The former Ebonyi State Governor said the South East must be honest with itself about political choices, arguing that sentiments and social media rhetoric have not delivered results for the region.

According to him, President Tinubu has shown tangible commitment to South East development through major federal infrastructure projects.

“You ask me what the President has done for the South East, and I will tell you what he has done,” Umahi said.

He listed the Second Niger Bridge, Enugu–Onitsha (Nnewi) Road, Owerri–Aba Road and several other federal highways across the region as evidence of inclusion, adding that these are real projects, not political propaganda.

“The road to Onitsha is Biafra. The Second Niger Bridge is Biafra. These are the Biafra we are looking for, not the Biafra of sentiments or social media,” he insisted.

Umahi described Nigeria as a tripod, warning that weakening any part of the country would be dangerous to national stability. While acknowledging the historical marginalization of the South East, he said progress can only come through wisdom, political calculation and active participation in national affairs.

“We can never win by sentiments. We can never win by hate. We can only win by strategy. When it is our turn to become President, we must be wise enough to position ourselves,” he said.

He also urged South East residents living in other parts of the country to obey local laws and respect host communities, while remaining confident and law-abiding.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us. Nobody should intimidate us, but we must also respect the culture and laws of wherever we find ourselves,” Umahi said.

The minister maintained that the South East is currently more included at the federal level and called on the region to reciprocate by supporting the Tinubu administration at the polls.

“Our votes will not be wasted on sentiments again. The South East will be strategic, and the South East will vote massively for President Tinubu,” he declared.
