Prophet Ikechukwu Uzukwu
The Spiritual Head of Soul Revival Outreach, Nnewi, Anambra State, Prophet Ikechukwu Uzukwu, has declared that no political party in Nigeria is currently offering constructive criticism of the government in power, accusing the opposition of merely “dancing to the gallery.”
Prophet Uzukwu made the assertion on Sunday, March 15, 2026, while speaking with journalists on the state of the nation.
According to him, opposition parties have been more preoccupied with strategies to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) than presenting serious alternatives for national development.
The cleric described the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as one that is “consuming its own people,” expressing disappointment that members of the opposition are not demonstrating sufficient seriousness in addressing the nation’s challenges.
He pointed to the worsening security situation in the country, noting that attacks by criminal elements he described as terrorists and bandits have continued to claim lives daily.
“Nigeria has become a safe haven for criminals to operate with boldness, without fear of arrest, prosecution or any form of punishment.
“The beauty of traveling by road from the South to the North, or from the East to the West, has become a mirage. Many have paid the supreme sacrifice in the hands of bandits on several Nigerian highways. One begins to wonder whether the huge budgets meant for security are actually being effectively spent on the security agencies, ”he said.
Prophet Uzukwu also lamented the state of the economy, saying that the era when graduates secured employment even before completing their studies has long passed. According to him, the collapse of industries and businesses has worsened unemployment across the country.
“Today, one can say without contradiction that the present administration at the center has supervised the burial of more companies and factories than all past administrations put together,” he insisted.
He cited the example of the Nnewi Main Market, which he said grew alongside the once-thriving industries and manufacturing companies in the area.
“The market that evolved with vibrant cottage industries now largely specializes in selling imported goods because many of those industries have gone moribund,” he added.
The cleric further observed that many families can no longer afford a quality meal daily, exposing citizens to malnutrition and other health challenges.
“The rate at which people beg for alms in the country is quite alarming and worrisome. Most of the beggars are doing so because of the failure of government at all levels. Resources are being mobilized in reckless and irresponsible ways.”
He criticized the administration’s reliance on palliatives, saying that items such as rice and beans often do not reach the intended beneficiaries.
“Most times these so-called palliatives end up in the homes of the political class instead of the poor they are meant for,” he said.
“I do not belong to the City Boys movement or the Village Boys. I belong to the people’s movement to flush out bad governance in Nigeria and across Africa. It is time to say no to election malpractice.”
On the political future of the country, Prophet Uzukwu claimed that he had seen former Vice President Atiku Abubakar “in the spiritual realm correcting the anomalies in the country.”
He argued that the leadership of a nation as richly endowed as Nigeria should not be left in the hands of what he described as “clueless and poorly educated individuals.”
“As the 2027 general elections approach, Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion should rally around someone capable of rescuing the country from the current socio-economic difficulties,” he said.
“In this regard, it is time to start looking in the direction of the Turaki of Adamawa, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, who was the brain behind the modest achievements recorded during the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo.”
He also recalled that in 2003, Abubakar advised that Nigeria should stop borrowing, warning that borrowed funds are often misappropriated rather than used for the benefit of the masses.
The prophet further alleged that some politicians defecting to the All Progressives Congress are doing so with plans to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
He urged Nigerians to support any leader capable of fixing the country’s problems, explaining that election rigging is a greater threat to democracy than coups, banditry, or terrorism.
“Nigeria cannot keep doing the same things and expect different results. The time has come to move beyond politics of ethnicity and tribalism and encourage the most competent individuals to lead the country to the Promised Land,” he added.
