The leader of Biafra Independence Movement and Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (BIM-MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike has announced that the 13th edition of Ojukwu Memorial Day celebration would be held on November 26, 2024.
Ojukwu Day is a day set aside in commemoration of the late Biafra war lord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu annually since 2012, which has been personally financed by Chief Uwazuruike over the years, in partnership with the members of the BİM-MASSOB.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the Director of Information and Senior Special Assistant to BİM-MASSOB on Media and Publicity, Mazi Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike disclosed that the 2024 event would be more elaborate than the ones done the previous years, adding that it would start from November 25th gala night till 26th.
Uwazuruike who has the title of Ijele Ndigbo and the leader of 46th member Nation of Unrepresented Nations and People Organization (UNPO) for the actualization of Biafra said his zonal leader, Chief James Ezeani assured him that Ijele masquerade from Anambra central senatorial district would display.
Other masquerades are Izaga, Ogbunka and the dreaded Ajofia Nnewi would feature at the event.
The statement added that match past by members from Abia state would entertain the audience just as some women dance groups and other cultural troupes from Enugu, Cross River and Rivers states would perform to entertain the guests.
Uwazuruike who is Ojukwu’s successor as Ijele Ndigbo, invites friends and well-wishers to come and honour the only man who he said lived a life worthy to be celebrated, describing Ojukwu as the greatest Igbo man ever lived fighting the course and well-being of his Igbo people.
The wife of former Head of State of the defunct Biafra, and the current Federal Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. (Iyom ) Bianca Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu would be in attendance just as other well-meaning Igbo sons and daughters are expected to witness the event which he promised to be colourful.
The event starts by 10:00 am prompt at the Ojukwu Memorial Library, No. 2, Ralph Uwazuruike Street, Area G, New Owerri, İmo State.
