As the universal Church marked solemnity of Most Holy Trinity Sunday, Trinity Friends Club Onitsha under the Chairmanship of Nze Casmire Ezeimo equally celebrated their Patron Saint with Thanksgiving.
The event which attracted virtually all the Trinity Friends Club members took place at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church New Haven and featured prayers which were offered to them by the Parish Priest of the Church, Very Rev. Fr. Vincent Onuchukwu.
Speaking shortly after the Thanksgiving, Mr Damian Ofufe described Holy Trinity as a mystery in the Church, saying that they named their Club after Holy Trinity.
He also disclosed that God has been faithful and blessing them since they formed the Club. He said that the greatest miracle is that they have never lost any of their members.
He said: “Since we formed this club, we have been offering Thanksgiving to God every year with one cow but this year, we offered two cows because, what God has been doing for us is marvelous. We formed the club when we were attending Block Rosary and Catholic Youths Organization of Nigeria (CYON) and since then we have been on.”
Also speaking, the current Chairman of the Club, Chief Casmire Ezeimo (Nze Afunwaelotanna) noted that the Club was organised by Catholic lay faithful, adding that as the Club progressed, other denominations who were qualified joined.
“The reason we have chosen St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church as our place for Thanksgiving is that the Club was organised from there during our Block Rosary and CYON days. So, that’s the reason we decided to be going for the Thanksgiving in the Parish.
” What I want to tell people is that Trinity Friends Club is a nice Club and those who are members are people of integrity and reputable character. So, if you join this Club even if you are a Catholic or not so long as you are under the canopy of Trinity, God will be protecting you and your family.
” However, we still need members, the only criterion is good character and good behaviour, “Nze Afunwaelotanna said.
Similarly, the immediate past Chairman of the Club, Chief Patrick Nwaugwu a.k. a Alhaji testified that they had benefited a lot since they began the Club, explaining that organizing the Club made them to see themselves as relations whenever they met one another.
He, therefore, affirmed that God has been guiding them for the past twenty four years they started even as he confirmed that since the Club was in operation they have not lost any of their members which he attributed to the grace of God.
” Anybody who is a member of this Club is blessed in a special way because all of us are doing well in our various endeavours and that is why we come to appreciate God.
” We have been offering to God one cow for Thanksgiving but, this year, we offered two cows and the reason is for Him to give us good health and grant us more open door and success so that next year we come back to thank Him with numerous cows, “he concluded.
