As part of his contribution and efforts towards the continued promotion of the rich Igbo cultural heritage, the founder of Mmili Bu Ife, a traditionalist, Dr Tochukwu Okoye Ezenwaobatu from Obinagu Nsukwu Abatete recently marked 2024 Agbala Nwanyi Festival otherwise popularly known as Mmili Bu Ife.
According to Dr Tochukwu who specializes in helping people to regain their life and freedom from evil people said that the festival remained a platform for people from all parts of the state and country to come and be happy and express their gratitude to the Agbala Nwanyi for all the good things she did for them throughout the periods including protections, healing and guidance.
Dr Odum disclosed that he celebrated and honoured the “mother water” because for her help to him in both physical and spiritual works and also celebrated her with a lot of merriment including performances and display by different kinds of masquerades and cultural groups.
He called upon Ndi Igbo to continue to support, promote and encourage their culture and tradition at all times, saying that other tribes in Nigeria were very proud of their own culture.
He argued that Ndi Igbo should, therefore, also be proud of theirs. Odum na Abatete used the event to thank and appreciate all those that have been contributing one way or the other towards the success of the festival and those that attended, adding that on his part, he would continue to do his best towards contributing to the overall promotion and development of Igbo cultural heritage.
In a special way Odum Abatete appreciated his wife, Mrs Uchechukwu Okoye Ezenwaobatu, his children, Chimamanda, Tochukwu Chimamanda Ezenwaobata Okoye, his sister, Chisom, his brother Nwabunwanne, all the members of Mmili Bu Ife, who, according to him, believed in water, Omenana efuna, Eze omaliko Abatete, Ezudo, chairman omenana Abatete, PG Abatete and Nsukwu Abatete and many others.
Highlights of the event include masquerades display, live band and paying of homage to the traditionalist, Dr Odum with various kinds of gifts by friends and well-wishers.
Expressing their happiness, Mr Ekenedilichukwu aka Ekedon, Ichoku Umuoji, Azubuike Ibe (ojiefiemeogo), Nze Chidiebere Aniekwe (ozo umunnanwezueaku), Dr. Chukwuemeka Uduezue (mgbologuego Abatete), Mr Chidi Amadi (ogodo na nkpo), Nnamdi Nnajiofor (ezechukwuogalanya), Ezenwa Okafor (eze enyelenaka) thanked and encouraged Dr Okoye in his efforts to promote and maintain what their forefathers left for them, asking God to continue to strengthen him for a better work ahead.
