In view of the just concluded 2024 Anambra State Investment Summit in Awka with the theme “Charting a New Course for Economic Transformation”, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s tenure in Anambra State is rapidly redefining governance, blending vision and execution to unlock the state’s vast economic and human potential. The administration’s bold initiatives are not just reshaping the state’s socio-economic landscape but are also positioning Anambra as a land of infinite opportunities for discerning investors.

From the onset, Governor Soludo articulated his vision of a livable and prosperous smart megacity where residents could live, work, and thrive. Underpinning this vision is the philosophy of “One Anambra, One People, One Agenda,” which has been instrumental in fostering unity and purpose among Ndi Anambra.

As a blueprint for development, Governor Soludo’s governance model revolves around five strategic pillars: security, economic transformation, human capital development, governance reforms, and environmental sustainability. Each pillar interconnects, driving the state’s collective progress and transformation.

Indeed, the 2023 Anambra Investment Summit in Awka exemplified this transformative agenda. It attracted global investors, policymakers, and business leaders, culminating in deals worth billions of dollars. Agreements like the development of the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC), intra-city rail systems, and renewable energy projects are already translating into jobs and infrastructural growth.

Recognising the pivotal role of infrastructure and connectivity, Governor Soludo has initiated over 500km of durable roads with a lifespan of at least 20 years. Projects like the dualisation of key highways and the iconic Ekwulọbịa flyover exemplify this commitment. The “Operation Zero Potholes” initiative also ensures enhanced connectivity across all 21 local government areas of the State.
Besides, the ongoing digital fiber-optic rollout, with over 600km already laid, underscores the administration’s drive toward digital transformation, creating an enabling environment for businesses and residents alike.

Today also, for the first time in thirty three years after the creation of Anambra State, Governor Soludo is building a befitting Government House and Governor’s Lodge in Awka, the capital city. It is 90 percent completed. The Solution Fun City is equally about 80 percent completed. Remodeling of Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka is 90 percent completed.

In terms of human capital and education, Anambra’s greatest asset, its people, has not been overlooked. Governor Soludo’s administration has provided total free education in public schools, reducing the out-of-school population and increasing enrollment rates. Investments in education further include the recruitment of over 8,000 teachers and the distribution of digital tools to improve learning outcomes. Programmes like digital skills training and mentorship initiatives are empowering thousands of youths, ensuring that Anambra’s workforce remains competitive both locally and globally.

Talking about security and governance, when Governor Soludo assumed office, parts of the State were under siege by non-state actors. His decisive interventions restored peace, making Anambra safer for residents and investors. Governance reforms such as the establishment of a Geographic Information System (AMAGIS) for streamlined land administration and the restructuring of the Anambra State Investment Promotion Agency are also improving transparency and efficiency.

Without a doubt, a solid legacy is in the making. Governor Soludo’s approach transcends short-term gains, laying a foundation for sustainable growth. With investments in healthcare, renewable energy, solid minerals, and technology, Anambra State is transforming into a hub of economic dynamism.

From zero maternal mortality in healthcare to advancements in digital infrastructure, the State is setting benchmarks that promise a brighter future. Interestingly, Governor Soludo’s determination to live in Anambra State after his tenure epitomises his personal investment in its ongoing success now.

So, with this year’s recent Investment Summit in Awka also recording more success, Anambra’s trajectory under Governor Soludo is lending credence to what visionary leadership can achieve. As the State continues to evolve into a land of infinite opportunities and an investors’ paradise, Ndi Anambra can look forward to a future of shared prosperity and global recognition.
