Several distinguished indigenes of Awka, the Capital City of Anambra State have restated their unalloyed support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his comprehensive and pragmatic approach to various developmental challenges confronting the State.
This was made known when the cream of people including Senator Ben Ndi Obi (Ojeligbo Awka), Prof A. U. Nonyelu, MD/CEO ASWAMA, Mr. Mike Ozoemena, Igwe of Ogbunka, HRH Igwe Johnmark Anyaoha (Nka 1 of Ogbunka), among others, were led by MD/CEO Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Comr. Ossy Onuko on a general inspection of various projects being built by the Governor.
The people who were later received by the Commissioner for Housing, Mr Pauly Onyeka at the site of the ongoing New Government House and Governor’s Lodge project, expressed in-depth satisfaction with the giant strides being accomplished by the Governor.
Addressing the press, an illustrious son of the soil, Senator Ben Ndii Obi (Ojeligbo), said he was amazed by the rate of work done by Soludo in the State Capital City, Awka.
Going down memory lane, Obi revealed how a series of petitions written against the military Administration and the subsequent Civilian counterparts were swept under the carpet, maintaining that Governor Soludo is practically determined to transform Awka into a top-notch mega Capital City.
“I’m amazed at the rate of work ongoing here. This is the first time that we have experienced turning a Capital City into a true Capital City.
“Governor Charles Soludo is running the State rapidly. Everywhere you go you will see the impacts of his Government.
“Just this afternoon, we were saying to the Chief Press Secretary: ‘Why are people not telling the story? Why is the story of Soludo not being told? I can say for sure that by the time he completes his four years, Awka will be the best-built capital city in the Southeast.
“And I keep asking myself, where is all this money coming from? We are indeed amazed at what we saw and I hope to see Mr. Governor to shake hands with him for the marvelous work he is doing.” Sen. Ben Obi said.
Also speaking, another University Don from Awka, Prof A. U. Nonyelu affirmed that what his several petitions couldn’t convince past military administrators and their Civilian counterparts to do in Awka in the past 35 years, Soludo has done without lobby or protest.
“This is the making of a State Capital. Some 35 years ago, I wrote a series of petitions against the military administrations, and then, subsequent administrations of their Civilian Governments to make Awka a Capital City.
“We are beginning to see more that we have never seen before, and I think that what the Governor is doing is infectious because the vision for the Capital City is big. The vision of Anambra State is also big, and this is now the laying of the foundation of the Capital City.
” We want to extend our gratitude to the Governor and also the Government of Anambra State for doing what they doing. This is amazing. This is marvelous and we are grateful.” Prof. Nonyelu said.
The stakeholders equally expressed astonishment that Mr. Governor is presently achieving these feats without much noise about it and significantly enough, without borrowing a dime.
In their separate speeches, the Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Pauly Onyeka, and MD/CEO of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Comr Ossy Onuko thanked Ndi Awka for acknowledging Mr. Governor’s efforts towards fulfilling his campaign promises.
