The Special Anti-Touting Squad Agency (SASA) in Anambra State has arrested three suspects for allegedly extorting petty traders and commercial motorcycle operators in Onitsha and surrounding areas.

SASA spokesperson, Karen James, said the suspects—Michael Uwaoma, Ndubuisi Aniukwu, and Anthony Onyekwelu—were apprehended in separate operations at Mgbuka Obosi and Umusiome Junction, Nkpor.

Uwaoma was allegedly collecting ₦200 from food vendors, while Aniukwu was caught extorting ₦300 from okada riders. Investigations revealed Aniukwu acted on the instructions of Onyekwelu, who reportedly demanded a daily remittance of ₦20,000.

The suspects have been arraigned and remanded, with the case adjourned to June 3, 2026.

SASA reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on illegal revenue collection and urged residents to report such activities.
