Special Adviser to the Anambra state Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Ms Chinwe Okoli has advised Nigerian youths to always work on themselves in gaining capacity and giving value rather than blaming society for challenges faced.

She also advised that youths should always show up prepared in case an opportunity opens up and comes calling.

Okoli made the call at the public presentation and launch of a book entitled “Prick My Conscience”, authored by Genevieve Onyearizor, a script writer.

She further challenged the youths to invest their youthful time and energy on ventures that have enduring benefits.

“Instead of blaming society for the challenges they’re facing, the youths should always work on themselves in gaining capacity and giving value.

“They should always show up prepared in case an opportunity opens up and comes calling,” she added.

Another dignitary, Mr Nnaemeka Oraka described the book title as thought provoking, saying, “the book challenges everyone of us to look inward. If you look inward to yourself, you will make a change.”

Oraka who was full of gratitude to God for helping the author to publish her first book said he was not surprised by the feat.

“I actually knew this would happen one day and I’m happy the day is here. She is a great teacher. I think she is by this bringing her teaching prowess closer to the world by teaching everyone.

“Whoever grabs this book must learn one or two things from it. It’s nice piece and a must read for everyone,” he said.

Lady Liliana Onyenyionwu said although she had known the author for about four years ago, she never knew the great stuff she was made of.

“I was shocked when I got her invitation. She’s a person I have known for about 3 to 4 years back but I never knew she’s this deep.

“I’m so impressed and overwhelmed. It’s awesome to be part of this great occasion. I give her kudos for touching my inner buttom and I’m longing to see what the book entails,” she said.

Also speaking, Barr. Dominic Chinedu Ononuba, lauded the inspiration behind the intellectual property.

“From the caption, I was able to understand where the writer is going. I believe it’s all about how to develop our innermost and enhance the well-being of our society.

“A writer lives forever because even the children unborn will one day read about what he or she has put in place. It’s a nice effort by Genevieve. These are the type of people we encourage in the society,” Ononuba submitted.

Earlier, the author, Genevieve Onyearizor, expressed a feeling of fulfillment for seeing the book to fruition.

“I am excited to have finally launched this much awaited book. I have written it for some months but due to circumstances beyond my control – environmental insecurity, I have been postponing it.

“I finally decided to take bull by the horn and launch it on democracy day”.

Onyearizor spoke about her inspiration to embark on the laudable venture. “I was inspired by the need to get the youths and women involved in decision making across board.

“When they are involved, society is better off because they have a whole lot to offer. Sadly, they have been discriminated against in society.

“The book is also to foster positive change among citizens to prick the conscience of Nigerians to have mind reorientation and positive mindset to be able to add value to society irrespective of the challenges.

On the hurdles she crossed, Onyearizor quipped, “Writing, editing , publishing and launching the book all pose challenges. But, I surmounted them all because I want to see change in society among youth.”
