Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Anambra State Police Command, have arraigned two suspects over the alleged murder of one Ikechukwu Simon Nwite and the theft of his funds.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed in a statement that the suspects were arraigned on March 18, 2026, before a High Court sitting in Onitsha.
According to the statement, the prime suspect, Chiemerie Anieke, 21, allegedly attacked his employer, Ikechukwu Nwite, with a pestle, leading to his death.
He was also linked to a separate attack on one Ogechukwu Nwite in the Fegge area of Onitsha.
Anieke was arraigned alongside Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, also 21, who allegedly assisted in the crime by providing a bank account used to transfer over N8 million belonging to the deceased.
Police operatives said they recovered N6 million from the suspects, part of the stolen funds, which has been tendered as evidence in court.
Both defendants have been remanded at a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to justice and warned against criminal activities, stressing that offenders would be brought to book.
