His Highness, Obi Afamefuna Charles Obi, Ogidi, Obi Uruagu, has given his mother, late Lolo Felicia Uzoamaka Obi (Nee Okonkwo) a befitting burial in Uruagu, Nnewi, Anambra State.
The burial which took place on Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Obi Uruagu’s palace, Nnewi amidst eulogies from illustrious sons and daughters of Nnewi community attracted distinguished personalities from far and near with all kinds of music entertainers including Egedege Dance Troupe of Theresa Onuora fame.
His highness Obi Afamefuna said he felt the death of his mother, Nnediebube so much.

The Obi described his late mother as a staunch Christian who put God first in everything she did in her lifetime. He revealed that his late mother trained her children very well.
“My mother was a woman of humility and strong will. She used to come to me after her morning prayer for a discussion on how to carry out activities of that day. I am missing that moment in my life,”he noted.
Obi said he felt the gap her mother’s death had created especially feeding their goats and other domestic animals, adding that those responsibilities were now on his shoulder.
His Highness expressed his deepest gratitude to God Almighty and his family who made the burial a successful one.
He also appreciated the efforts of the CEO of Ibeto Group, Chief Cletus Ibeto ( Omekannaya), who he said under one month built a hall for a befitting burial of his mother.
Obi also commended Ibeto for his love that made him to stand by them for days during the burial rites.
He also extended his gratitude to the CEO Carter Group, Sir Louis Onwugbenu, who he said supported the family financially and was physically present during the burial.
Obi further appreciated the President General of Uruagu, Chief Innocent Okoli, the CEO of Organizer Oil and Gas for his contributions and many others who stood by the family to make the burial a success. Obi prayed that God would bless and replenish them abundantly.
The Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Nnewi North, Hon Tony Muodielo (Klassic) in his statement described late Lolo Obi as a woman of virtues.
He called her a good mother that cared for everyone. Muodielo prayed that God would give the Royal family fortitude to bear the loss.
Speaking on Soludo’s achievements, Hon. Muodielo commended Governor Charles Soludo’s effort to produce democratically elected local government Chairmen in all the 21 local governments areas in Anambra State. He promised that APGA primaries would be free and fair in Nnewi. He described APGA as a family.
“We will bring out a candidate that will meet the criteria so that everyone will be satisfied, “he said.
The former President General of Uruagu, Amb Charlse Nwonye who spoke during the burial said late Lolo Obi was like a mother to him. He called her a good woman whose words of encouragement had helped him a lot in life.
Ambassador Nwonye revealed that late Lolo Obi revived the community’s cultural dance, adding that her legacy would ever be remembered in the industrial community.
He disclosed that His Highness, Ogidi and the entire Nnewi community that supported the burial made food and drinks available to feed the masses for three days (morning,afternoon and evening).
He prayed that God would give the family and entire Nnewi community fortitude to bear the loss.
Amb. Nwonye lauded Prof Soludo’s efforts so far in developing Anambra State as Governor.
He disclosed that the massive projects of the Governor were all appreciated.
He urged the people of Anambra State to support the Governor to do his second tenure for the projects he has at hand to be completed.
“I wanted a ticket for the House of Assembly because of the bad roads especially Okpunoeze road which the able Governor constructed and other abandoned roads. But I am very grateful that the Governor has done the very road that gives me sleepless nights,”he added.
Amb. Nwonye said the road leading to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi permanent site is being taken care of, describing road as an essential infrastructure for development.
He said for dividends of democracy to reach the grassroots that they needed a selfless and dedicated person for the Chairmanship position at the local government level.
“If we get a good person there, both the Chairman and the Deputy the community will experience fast development, “he added.
He further disclosed that the masses would play vital role in selecting a Deputy Chairman and advised them to choose the right candidate that, according to him, would always work in harmony with the Chairman to develop every part of the Council Area.
He declared his interest to be the Deputy Chairman of Nnewi North Local Govermment Area, saying that it is the Umudim’s turn to produce next Chairman and Uruagu’s turn to produce the Deputy.
