Oba bomb attack: Fed Commissioner demands investigation, says residents living in fear

Federal Commissioner representing Anambra State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Rev. Ukadike Ibeabuchi has demanded for a high powered descret investigation panel to fish out the perpetrators of attack on Oba community civic centre and Police station, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner who hails from Oba, told newsmen that he was shocked and devastated when the news of the attack filtered into his ear as the affected facilities cost huge funds to be built by both the community and Federal government.

His words: “I condemn in strong terms the brutish attack on Oba community civic centre and police station by yet to be identified gunmen. These facilities cost a lot of money to be put in place.

“I heard that the duo facilities were set ablaze in the wee hours of Tuesday and a police corporal killed in the process.

“It is unfortunate that such barbaric attack will happen at a time when the people in the area are enjoying peaceful atmosphere restored as a result of water tight security put in place by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

“My people of Oba now live in fear and that is why it is necessary to set up a high powered descret investigation panel as means of fishing out the perpetrators of this dastardly act to face the wrath of the law.

“Untill this is done, fear of uncertainty which has already gripped my people will remain until those behind the brutish act are fished out to face justice and serve as deterrent to would be future offenders.”

Recall that at about 3.am last Tuesday, gunmen allegedly stormed Oba, set community civic centre and police station, both in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, ablaze, and killed a police corporal on the process.

The State Police Command Public Relations Officer , SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident disclosing that the police-led Joint Security Force comprising of the Army, Navy, Civil defence and other security agencies to patrol the area in search of the gunmen.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, condemned the act, describing the invasion of security facilities as hostility toward security agents.
