The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command has in a proactive move intensified its deployment to protect critical national, state and local government assets.
In a release by the Head of Media and Tactical Ops of the NSCDC, SC Okadigbo Edwinand, the areas of focus were infrastructure, banks, other financial institutions, parks, schools, government offices and potential vulnerable points to maintain public trust and respond to security breaches.
The State Commandant of NSCDC Anambra State Command, Comdt. Maku Olatunde disclosed this in Awka on Monday July 8, 2024 while monitoring the deployment of personnel for the renewed launch operations.
According to him, the aims of the exercise were to boost economic activities, prevent miscreants, criminals, vagrants, vandals , hooligans, unruly individuals and economic saboteurs from attacking lawful residents of the state, particularly on Mondays.
Comdt. Maku emphasized the need for all personnel participating in the exercise to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner in enforcing civil order while following established rules of engagement and standing operational procedures.
“This deployment is to ensure the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, in Anambra State including,banks, markets, parks, recreational centers, schools, government offices and other strategic locations.
“You must be vigilant and alert in the discharge of your duties, be professional, courteous and responsive to the needs of the public, “he said.
The NSCDC state helmsman urged law-abiding residents of the state to go about their lawful businesses without any form of fear or intimidation as the command in synergy with other security agencies had employed security measures to evade any threat of attack by any insurgent group.
Comdt. Maku warned those intending to destabilize the relatively peace in the state to have a rethink as anyone caught in the act will face the consequences.
