Nnewi North Local Government Area executive Chairman, Hon Echezona Anazodo has commended Governor Charles Soludo for his transformation agenda in Anambra State.
Hon Anazodo said this while fielding questions from newsmen on the Agulu-Nnewi-Okija dualization road project that has begun with demolition of buildings, shops and other property.
He explained that the demolition of shops, billboards, motor parks and other categories of property along Owerri Road Nnewi, which started last Tuesday was to give way for a road dualization project.
Anazodo said that Governor Soludo had been prudent in making use of the taxpayers’ money for infrastructure and other areas of development.
He assured that there would be compensation for those who substantially lost their property to the project.
“There is no Anambra State without the 21 Local Government Areas. When the Governor initiates any programme we will support him, “he said.
Anazodo urged the people of Nnewi to support Governor Soludo’s good governance initiative and stop playing opposition politics which, according to him, has never favoured Ndị Nnewi.
“Within three weeks of our assumption of office, we have seen the dividends of working with the Governor.
“The initial plan was that the road will start from Agulu to Okija but because of our genuine intervention that was what brought about urgent partition of Nnewi to Okija and Agulu to Nnewi, “he said.
“Nnewi North has cued into the system with the attendant favourable result.
“The Governor has seen that Nnewi needs urgent intervention in road construction and rehabilitation, “he said.
Hon Anazodo explained that Governor Soludo knew the plight of the property owners especially those whose buildings and shops were demolished.
He said that anybody with a reasonable structure that obstructed the road construction which was demolished would be compensated whether with Certificate of Occupancy or not.
He further explained that the demolition of property for the road project did not come without notice to property owners as some people had claimed.
He declared that those affected were adequately informed but that they did not believe it was going to happen.
He noted that a lot has changed within three weeks they assumed office.
The Council boss further said that his administration had two major challenges that needed urgent attention in the Local Government Area.
He named security, road rehabilitation and construction which he assured would be given the attention they deserved.
