Nnewi man builds multi-million naira church for his community

The entire Umuezeagu community in Uruagu Nnewi, Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State recently blew their trumpet as friends and well wishers stormed the premises of St Francis of Assisi parish to grace the dedication of an ultra modern church built and donated to the parish by Chief Arc. Anosike Onyedika Vincent snr. (Ezechichili Omeifeukwu Jesus 1) for service of God.

The dedication of the church attracted numerous friends and well wishers of the Chief Onyedika who poured out their endless commendations on the execution of such a massive project.

The event that started with a holy mass witnessed a colorful commissioning, procession of clergy, Knights and Ladies of the church who were ushered in with the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye as the Chief celebrant and a lot of other religious leaders in attendance.

Delivery his homily, Most Rev. Okoye dwelt on the word ‘Dedication’ which, according to him, was a sign of holiness and repentance which lead to changes and transformation in the lives of Christians and reconciliation of those in dispute.

Commending Chief Onyedika’s unique project, the Bishop said building of church was the greatest investment because of the divine gain which he noted was beyond money that accompanied it.

In his remark, Chief Onyedika said: “God actually cultivates in me so I decided to cultivate in God’s vineyard.

Chief Onyedika appreciated his numerous well wishers, associates, family members who he said stood behind him to make sure that his dream was achieved. He also thanked Mr Hycient Anaeto and Mr Uzo Okoye immensely for building the grottoes. The church donor who hails from Umuezeagu village, Uruagu Nnewi prayed God to answer all the good prayers being offered in the sanctuary.

The parish priest of St Francis of Assisi, Umuezeagu, Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Agina, expressed gratitude to God that the church was completed in his own time and thanked God that all his efforts and prayers were not in vain.

Fr. Agina lauded the donor for the gesture, adding that what was spent in the church building could have built two companies that would be fetching the donor money but he decided to give it to God, according to him. He prayed God to continue to bless him and his family with long life and good health.


He thanked the Bishop and other priests for coming to grace the occasion and also thanked all who contributed in one way or another in making the event a success.

Some of the family members, guests, club members, friends of the donor including Hon. J. C. Okeke (Egbuedike Na Oguno) that were interviewed commended him for cultivating in God’s vineyard and advised the parishioners to be more prayerful now the church was being dedicated and also try in maintaining the parish to the glory of God.
