The Labour Party (LP) Chairmanship candidate for Nnewi North local government area in September 28 election, Dr Chidiebere Nonso Uba has been said to be spiritually empowered to emerge winner of the Council poll.
Over fifteen anointed men of God including Catholic Bishop of Nnewi who was represented by Rev. Fr. Raphael Ezeogu; OIC Churches represented by Rev. Evang Dili Ernest; Joint Voice of Sabbath Nnewi in the person of Archbishop Uzuegbunam Jonathan; Rev. Sampson Nwachukwu for the Pentecostals; respected Preacher of Salvation, Pastor Ejimbe Edmond of Jesus The Way Ministry; representatives from the Police, were reportedly among the high-profile guests who played major roles at the event held at Anaedo Social Club of Nigeria on Wednesday September 18, 2024, in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The Ministers of God with their congregations came and backed up the LP candidate spiritually after fervent prayers that lasted for hours for him to emerge victorious.
It was gathered that this event had sent jitters to the opponents of the LP candidate. Other candidates were said to have been busy campaigning without recourse to seeking God’s face. Although Dr Uba has gone into full swing in his campaign strategies, he told journalists at the prayer session and workshop that he considered it most expedient to put God first in his journey to become the Executive Chairman of Nnewi North.
He said he acknowledged God as the only kingmaker, adding that whoever God promoted could not be demoted by any power. The LP candidate reiterated his commitment to providing responsible and responsive government at the grassroots level in the Nnewi North Council Area.
He articulated his area of focus as the Executive Chairman of Nnewi North to include empowerment of the unemployed persons in the Council Area.
Other areas are security, infrastructure, agricultural promotion, road network, and all the policies that would ameliorate the sufferings of the masses.
He said he would run an open door policy in his administration and would provide an enabling environment for both indigenes and non indigenes alike. Uba, however, promised to sponsor the Certificate of Participation for all the participants, which he said would be handed over to each individual by next Wednesday.
In his presentation at the workshop on the topic: “Violence-Free And Peaceful Co-existence, A Sine Qua Non For Good Governance Promotion In Our Society”, the Commissioner of Police, who was represented by Nnewi Area Commander, ACP Anionwo Uchenna through ACO2 Mr Anene James said when people live together in peace, that there would be harmony.
He noted that tranquility, quietness, love, unity, progress, growth, security, and advancement are the key words to achieve peaceful co-existence.
He lectured the gathering on crime prevention which he said had to do with any activity done as a pro-active measure to stop crime occurrence.
“Crime prevention comprises strategies and measures that seek to reduce the risk of crimes occurring, and their potential harmful effects on individuals and society, including fear of crime, by intervening to influence their multiple causes,” he said.
He also advised the participants to be security conscious wherever they were. He noted that security consciousness was the first line of defense against security risk. He said it was about being in the state of noticing discrepancies in situations of one’s surroundings.
“It also means noticing people who behave strangely or any other thing that is different from the usual thing in your surroundings. You cannot protect yourself against something that you are oblivious of its existence, “he added.
He gave the participants tips to be security conscious. He said they should avoid being predictable; should learn to keep some secrets; avoid keeping late hours, and move with pepper spray in case of emergency attack.
Others are to be informed and to be alert; watch one’s use of social media; trusting your gut, if cornered, to relinquish one’s valuables.
