Residents of Nkpor community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday gathered at the Akuzo Village Square, Nkpor Agu, to celebrate the annual Ntu Cultural Festival, a traditional ceremony held ahead of the commencement of the farming season.

The colourful event, held on March 8, 2026, drew sons and daughters of the community from across states, neighbouring towns and the diaspora who returned home to participate in the cultural celebration.

The Ntu Festival, one of the most notable cultural ceremonies in Nkpor, is traditionally hosted on a rotational basis by the villages that make up the community. Each year, the host village coordinates activities that showcase the rich cultural heritage of the people while strengthening communal unity.

Speaking with a group of journalists during the event, Mr. Ebelechukwu Timothy Chukwukelu , popularly known as King Nomoreloss and proprietor of Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools, Nkpor, said he attended the festival to celebrate with his people and encourage the youth to contribute positively to society.

According to him, cultural gatherings such as the Ntu Festival serve as an important platform for unity, reflection and community development.

“I came home from Europe to celebrate the Ntu festival with my Village Akuzo in particular and my town Nkpor in general and to encourage the youth and everyone present to live upright lives,” he said.

Timothy urged individuals to engage in meaningful activities that would leave enduring legacies for future generations.
He further charged members of the community to become catalysts for progress and development not only in Nkpor but also in the wider society.

“Everyone should strive to do something good that will outlive them. We should live in a way that people will remember us for good,” he added.

He also offered prayers for God’s protection and guidance for the people of Nkpor and the wider community.
The annual festival continues to serve as a rallying point for cultural pride, communal harmony and the reaffirmation of shared values among the people of Nkpor.
