Dr Maduka Atuenyi, PG, Nzuko-Ora Nnewi

The Dr Maduka Atuenyi-led Nzuko-Ora Nnewi (Town Union) in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra state has directed that any form of planned national protest scheduled for August 1 in Nigeria must not be allowed in Nnewi.

The Nzuko-Ora President-General said though Nnewi people as well felt the pains of the hardship in Nigeria, that the protest would not be allowed in Nnewi as a mark of respect for Senator Ifeanyi Ubah who died recently in London.

“The people of Nnewi and beyond are still grappling with the news of sudden death of our very own brother and kinsman, Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah (CON) Ebubechukwu Uzo Nnewi, Prince of the Senate who passed away recently.

*We cannot at this time permit any form of protest because we’re still mourning.

“Instead, we would be holding memorials, tributes, mourning to honour his legacy and contributions to our community development.

“We invite all to join us as we pray for the gentle repose of his soul. His demise is a grave wound in our hearts and very painful to all of us.

“Moreso, despite the challenges facing our nation, Nnewi has remained a haven of calm and serenity especially through the contribution of late Senator Ubah.

“We urge everyone to continue to embrace peace and eschew violence.
