Kidnapped Anambra Commissioner, wife released

The Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Patrick Aghamba, and his wife kidnapped last Friday have been released from captivity.

Anambra State government has confirmed their release.

Press Secretary to Governor Charles Soludo, Mr Christian Aburime disclosed that Aghamba and his wife were released on Saturday night.
He also confirmed that no ransom was paid for their release.

Aburime stated that the release was achieved through divine intervention, noting, “The commissioner and his wife have been released by the special grace of God. We were able to secure his release.” He reiterated that no ransom was paid.

Aghamba and his wife were abducted while traveling to Abuja to attend Governor Soludo’s daughter’s wedding. His aide, ABK Offiah, who was traveling with them, was shot dead by the gunmen.

Meanwhile, Uche Nworah, former Managing Director of Anambra State Broadcasting Service, posted on Facebook: “Great news. Kidnapped Anambra Youth Commissioner Aghamba and his wife have been released. To God be the glory.”
