Iran opens alternative routes in Strait of Hormuz amid truce

Iran has announced alternative shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, citing risks from possible sea mines in the main channel.

The move comes as Tehran agreed to temporarily reopen the vital oil transit route under a two-week ceasefire with the United States. The waterway typically handles about one-fifth of global oil shipments.

According to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, vessels are advised to use designated alternative entry and exit paths to ensure maritime safety and avoid potential hazards.

The truce was reached just before a deadline set by Donald Trump, easing tensions after weeks of disruption that had driven global energy prices higher.
