Pretty Nollywood actress, Chinonso Arubayi, revealed in a recent interview with The Entertainer that she always knew she would be a movie star.
“To be honest, I always knew it was going to happen, I just didn’t know how,” she said.
Arubayi initially started behind the camera as a show producer and makeup artist, but the opportunity arose to step in front of the camera, and she grabbed it.
“God being kind and faithful, I always knew I would go far and if I go further, it’s as a result of certain decisions I have taken. It’s quite a challenging journey. This industry can be quiet challenging. Each day one decides to be a part of it, it can only mean one growing and getting better,” Arubayi said.
The Blind and Fold star actress went on to discuss the vast potential for storytelling within the Nollywood industry: “There is nothing new under the sun. We can only tell a story better by employing the resources at our disposal. We have technological advancements, sophisticated lightings, cameras, beautiful locations and we still have a lot of stories that haven’t still been told if we are being honest. We are barely scratching the surface.”
Arubayi acknowledged that many outsiders may not understand the intricacies of the industry, but she sees the progress being made. “From the outside they can see the giant strides that are being made and with more investments and more distribution platforms, definitely there is room for expansion,” she concluded.
