Group commends UNIZIK Governing Council for providing quality leadership

A group under the aegis of Education for Justice and Development ( EJAD) has commended the Amb. Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe-led members of the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University ( NAU) for their right vision to accelerate development of the University.

EJAD in a statement released in Awka on Tuesday signed by the Executive Director, Kelvin Emeka Okeke, noted that members of the NAU Governing Council since its inauguration have left no one in doubt of their commitment towards repositioning the University named after the Great Zik of Africa.

The statement said the members have resolved to uplift the institution to be in line with global best practices and trends in research, academic excellence and administration.

The group specifically mentioned the unusual charisma, courage and determination to succeed despite annoying provocations so far, exhibited by the Pro-Chancellor, and Chairman of Council Amb. Greg Mbadiwe as they navigate the way on selecting and appointing the 7th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University.

” Despite unwarranted attacks and unnecessary vilification by some people desperate on clinging to the old order that has held the system down like a guillotine over the years, the Chairman and Pro-Chancellor has resisted the lure to be drawn into a messy fight to derail the vision. This is quite unusual and very commendable as it shows a mark of great virtues.

” While the naysayers keep on fanning the embers of discord and heating up the university polity, we wish to urge the Council to remain focused without distractions of any sort. We know the antics of the detractors who are struggling for their own selfish motives though they present such as a collective goal, “the statement read in part.

The group passed a confidence vote on the council members urging them to remain steadfast and resolute in achieving its lofty mandate and vision for the University.
