Citizens worried over new spate of kidnappings in Anambra

Increase in kidnapping incidents in Anambra state recently, especially the series that occurred on Saturday July 13, 2024 in the state where many successful kidnappings were allegedly recorded has become worrisome.

Sources alleged that two of such incidents happened in Ifite Awka; two along Agulu-Adazi-Oraukwu road; one at Nimo; two along Ichida-Neni-Igboukwu axis; one along Afor Nkpor road; and also learnt there was an attempt around Nnobi-E-dey Work axis, Nnewi road and maybe others not captured.

A concerned citizen of Anambra state is asking whether this is not enough for the Soludo government to declare a State of Emergency in the State.

“Under the principles of Separation of Powers, are the actions of July 13 not enough for the Anambra State Assembly to invoke its powers to summon the State Governor; the State Commissioner of Police; Director of State Security in Anambra; Commandant Onitsha Infantry Brigade NA; and Commander of Navy Otuocha to query what is happening in our dear State, “the source queried.

The citizen moved a motion that discussions on Supreme Court judgement should be stepped down and enough time devoted to deliberations on the ugly, deadly and emerging new kidnapping bravado by criminals in Anambra.

“This is no longer IPOB/Nnamdi Kanu related. We are now faced with a new wave of courageous dare devil syndicates without tribal leanings.

“My take! There is a new armed terror group determined to ensure anarchy reigns in the state!

“The Government must be ruthless and deal decisively with them! A special tactical joint tax force must be assembled and equipped to do the needful and urgently too, “the source submitted.
