The 27th day of July 2024 will never be forgotten by Ndigbo nine (all Igbo), no matter your state or political affiliation. It will be remembered as a horrific day for Ndigbo. Yes, Ndigbo, because our mouthpiece, Onunekwulu Igbo was taken away from us.
It was Jean Jacques Rousseau who said that “Heroes are not known by the softness of their carriage, but by the quality of their contributions”.
The Distinguished Senator, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah (Ebubechukwu Uzo Nnewi) was not only a hero, but a hero amongst heroes.
His contributions to mankind in this part of the universe cannot be quantified or contained in any write-up, no matter how hard one tries.
Truly, You Came, You Saw, You Conquered. IF DEATH WERE CONQUERABLE, YOU WOULD HAVE VANQUISHED IT WITH YOUR INDOMITABLE SPIRIT AND SHEER HUMAN STRENGTH. Your entire life exalted charity and selfless services to humanity.
Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah was an upright man who said his mind, acted his mind and bore nothing different in mind. His yes was yes and when he was with you, you would know. He called a spade a spade and not a working tool.
He was never a pushover, but a dogged fighter for whatever he believed in. He was most importantly a goal-getter.
His entrance into the APC changed everything about the party in Anambra State.
Your sudden departure from us has continued to shake the very fabrics of those of us who knew you. You were indeed a testament of hope, faith and courage because you fought against a lot of ills in society.
Death is a debt that all mortals must pay, if not, you could have conquered. You were in fact a Special Gift to us from the Almighty God. Although we are all mortals and shall one day pay our debts, losing human species of your kind is a great loss not only to the immediate family, it is also to Ndi Nnewi and Ndi Anambra. It is indeed an irreplaceable loss.
Distinguished Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, you have fought the fight and had finished the race as designed to you by the Almighty God.
As we, your brethren in Nnewi and entire Nigeria mourn your sudden departure from us, we are consoled by the fact that you lived a worthy and exemplary life that we are proud of. You were a peaceful, upright, loving and most importantly a devout Christian. No wonder your name is Ebubechukwu Uzo.
May the Almighty God give us, your lovely wife Uchenna, Ifeanyi jnr and siblings, Umunne gi Ndi Nnewi, APC Nnewi North, APC Anambra State and indeed the Federal Republic of Nigeria the fortitude to bear your departure from us. May He grant your kind soul eternal rest in the bosom of our father Abraham, A—M-E-N !
