Anambra LG elections: Nkwo Nnewi market leader declares to become Nnewi North LG Chairman

An All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) aspirant for the scheduled September 28, 2024 local government elections in Anambra State, Bro Dennis Ikegwuonu on Sunday declared his intention to contest for Chairmanship of Nnewi North Council Area.

Bro Ikegwuonu who is currently the Chairman, Agboedo Motor Spare Parts Association, Nnewi, said at the declaration in his Uru Umudim community that he was coming with seven point reshape agenda to put things aright in Nnewi North.

While presenting his reshape agenda on the occasion, Ikegwuonu expressed his willingness to give the industrial town of Nnewi quality administration.

He cited road and traffic management, education and research development, security of lives and property, health care delivery, agriculture and food security as the areas that he would give priority in his administration.

“Power, energy and technology, economic development, maintenance of rule of law and order, environment and waste to wealth, sports and housing development would not be neglected under my watch as Executive Chairman of Nnewi North Council Area.

“Art, culture and entertainment, physical development of Nnewi and youth empowerment would be given adequate attention, “he disclosed.

The APGA Chairmanship aspirant who was once the Human Resource Manager for Kotec Industries Ltd, Nnewi for over a decade, explained that his outstanding performance at Agboedo Motor section of Nnewi main market earned him the position of Anambra South market Chairman.

He noted that his coming out was as a result of request by stakeholders in the market, churches, as well as relations, friends and non indigenes who had been appealing to him to join the race.

“I joined the APGA in 2013 and has been financing the party in my ward since then.

“My appeal to the residents of Nnewi North Council Area and the APGA family is to give me the party ticket for the Council polls, “he said.

Chairman of the party in Nnewi North, Hon Tony Muodielo said the ability of the aspirant was not in doubt but reminded him that power was not given but taken.

“You have given examples of what you have done in leadership with names who can testify. We welcome you and your aspirations. It is not given but you struggle for it and as a party, we are going for the best candidate. God makes kings, and if it is the will of God, you will be there, “the Chairman said.

 The event attracted numerous traders from the eleven markets in Nnewi, ward chairmen and other stakeholders.
