From Ijeoma John Nnewi

Chairmanship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Amb.Paul Muoneke and Councilorship candidate of the YPP in the just concluded Local Government polls in Anambra, Hon Okonkwo Onyemaobi have commended Governor Charles Soludo for his commitment to provision of road network in the State.

Amb. Muoneke who was the immediate past President of Nnewi Youth Forum while addressing  the press said Nnewi community welcomed the road dualization  project of Nwagu Agulu – Nnobi -Nnewi-Okija.

He reaffirmed that it was a  welcome development if the government would use the same energy used in demolishing people’s property to complete the road dualization project.

He also added that the affected persons should be duly compensated.

Speaking on Governor’s achievements, Amb Muoneke said the Governor has tried so much especially in road construction but added that more attention still needed in security.

“We’re not safe in Anambra State. Everybody is living in fear, even as I am talking to you, I am meticulously vigilant but this is not supposed to be so, if our lives and property are safeguarded, “he added.

He called on Prof Soludo, fondly called the Solution Governor to spend more on security to provide an enabling environment for investors.

Amb Muoneke expressed dissatisfaction over the just concluded Local Government polls insisting that there was no election in Nnewi North even as they released what called results.

Hon Amobi told our Correspondent that the dualization project would mark a significant milestone in Nnewi infrastructure development.

“Nnewi people should be grateful for this initiative which will boost economic growth, improve transportation, and enhance safety.

“I acknowledge the government’s efforts to address the State’s socio- economic importance and look forward to timely completion of this project so that it won’t be delayed like the Bank Road which has been long overdue for completion, “he said.

He sympathized with those whose shops were demolished and appealed to the government to provide adequate compensation, considering the short notice given.

Amobi frowned at Government’s failure to conduct free, fair and credible Local Government polls which according to him has eroded public trust and confidence.

The politicians reiterated their commitment to support good governance and developmental initiatives in Nnewi and would oppose bad policies and bad governance as well as selfish elements.
