Sit-At-Home: Ogbaru LG Chairman visits markets to ensure traders’re business

In order to ascertain whether all the markets in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State obeyed directives to open for business on Mondays, the elected local government executive Chairman, Hon. Franklin Ikechukwu Nwadialor visited markets in the Council Area.

Recall that the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo had earlier directed that all the markets in the State should open every Monday and traders to carry out business activities by opening their shops.

Meanwhile, Hon. Nwadialor who embarked on inspection tour with his council members in an interview disclosed that he was on sit-at-home patrol as directed by Governor Soludo who he said had ordered that there would be no longer sit-at-home every Monday.

“So, we are basically patrolling in Ogbaru markets and its environs to make sure that all the markets complied to the order. The compliance so far is impressive except a  market which we would issue a query to their Chairman because last week Textile Market was completely closed and today it is again closed, “the Chairman said.

He frowned at what he described as incompetence of any market Chairman who refused to open, saying that he told them to put mechanism in place to ensure that traders come to market and he was disappointed that a Chairman did not open the market again this week.

The Mayor of Ogbaru Local Government explained that Ogbaru Electronics Dealers market did not also open, recounting Ogbo Rod market, Ogboefere market and Ogbaru Main market (Relief market) as the markets that opened in the area. 

He specifically expressed satisfaction for the leadership team spirit of Ogbaru Main market led by Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu which he said did not only opened their market but he met them evacuating drainage system inside their market.

” Infact, the leadership of Ogbaru Main market has been wonderful. When we visited the market, it was opened and they were distilling their drainage system which is very impressive.

“The market Chairman, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu took us to the erosion site  where erosion has damaged portion of the market. We are glad to see that work was ongoing to ensure that the portion is reconstructed and we will inform the Governor. He will come by himself to commission it, “he said.

Hon. Nwadialor, however, expressed confidence in Chief Ochiogu who he said had been working tirelessly for the progress of the market, assuring that he would strengthening the relationship between his office and that of market leadership in order to improve the well-being of the market traders.

Appreciating his guests, Chief Ochiogu after receiving the local government boss and his entourage commended them for their visit, saying that he was delighted to see them in their market.

He disclosed that all his achievements in the market was to support Governor Soludo’s transformation agenda and to encourage him to continue doing more for Ndi Anambra.

Ochiogu used the opportunity to eulogize the State Government in synergy with Ogbaru Local Government and the market in their effort to reconstruct damaged portion of Sakamori which he said had affected part of their market.

” Soludo is my role model. He has taught us to be productive and hard-working and we have to follow his foot steps. So, Soludo is a good leader and a person to be emulated. I implore Ndi Anambra to support his second tenure, ” Ochiogu said.
