Super Eagles’ Samuel Chukwueze has earned applause following his good form in Milan’s 2-1 win against Fiorentina on Saturday night, Sporting Sun reports.
The Nigerian who was at his best in the game caught the attention of his coaches and teammates.
Stefano Pioli told DAZN after the game, “It’s Chukwueze’s moment, the goal in Verona certainly did him a lot of good. He’s a very positive boy; he stayed with us and worked hard during the international break. Then, I have to tell the truth, if Pulisic hadn’t told me he was feeling a bit tired, I probably would have started Chris, but Chukwueze deserved this opportunity and he took it well.
“He’s a player who will bring us satisfaction because he has qualities. He needed more time to adapt but he knows what we expect from him and what he can bring to the team.”
Alessandro Florenzi told MilanTV: “We know Chukwu’s qualities, we know what he can bring to this team: it’s obvious that there are players who need a day of adjustment and others who need months, hopefully, this is over because we want to see this Samu.”
Rafael Leao also told DAZN after scoring the winner against Fiorentina, “I am a man, and I am no longer a kid. I have to thank the club and the organization that brought me to this level, I thank my fans and I congratulate Chukwueze, he had a great game and I am very happy for him. The team is doing well, we knew how important it was to win tonight and extend the lead over third place.”
