Lilu community in Anambra makes fresh appeal to Governor Soludo over hoodlums attacks

Lulu community in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State has made a fresh appeal to Governor Charles Soludo to clear the area of incessant attacks by hoodlums.

This fresh appeal came barely three weeks after residents of the area barricaded the Light House, Awka with their complain to the Governor.

According to the spokesperson who gave his name simply as “Emeka” (for security reasons), since after the visit to the Governor’s office where they were received by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Solo Chukwulobelu, no action or response has come in any way.

“It was rather heartbreaking to disclose that the gunmen have continued to saunter into Lilu community day and night harassing us as they like.

Few days ago they launched another attack which threw the community into confusion. The hoodlums said the attacks were for our Christmas.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr Emeka asked: “When will enough be enough for Governor Soludo to step in decisively to arrest the situation in Lilu. Anambra State should be interested in rescuing the community.

Mr Emeka showed the remnants of St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Parsonage and charred vehicles belonging to the Rev Cannon Gabriel Obiesie whose wife and children were brutally massacred and burnt. He said the cleric escaped with severe matchet injuries and bullet wounds, adding that the victim is still receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospitals.

He also showed the remnant of the charred palace of the traditional ruler, HRH Igwe (Barrister) Godson Onyediri.

He said the SSG had promised to brief Governor Soludo on their grievances as captured in their numerous placards that he collected.

When contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga said: “No report like that before me.”
